Abstract
No major functional changes are seen during the first 2 days after 1000 r total-body X-irradiation. About 70 hours after radiation (some 15-20 hours before death), progressive reductions in stroke volume and cardiac output begin. Heart rate increases and total peripheral resistance (TPR) slowly rises. But in the terminal stages, TPR falls and arterial pressure decreases rapidly.Keywords
