Abstract
A new series of mixed cyanonitrosyl complexes of chromium (I) having octahedral stereochemistry around the Cr ion with the general formula [CrNO(CN)2L2 (H2O)] (where L= o-, m- and p-toluidines, o-, m- and p- chloroanilines, o- and p- bromoanilines or 5- fluoro- 2- methyl aniline) has been isolated in solid state by the interaction of potassium pentacyanonitrosylchromate (I) monohydrate with the said ligands. The complexes have been characterised by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic measurement, molecular weight determination, electron spin resonance, and infrared spectral studies. Chromium (I) has a low- spin d5 configuration in these complexes. Keywords
