Abstract
This paper describes a method of determining the maximum probable rates at which power system frequency will decay following a disturbance which results in an overload on the available generation. The analysis is based on the maximum electrical load which a generator-transformer combination will accept as a function of the characteristics of the unit and the system to which it is connected and the initial operating conditions. The analysis and results presented are of value in providing underfrequency protection for nuclear plants and in the application of frequency relays for load shedding purposes. Keywords
