Residual pulmonary nodules after combination chemotherapy of testicular cancer.

Abstract
Metastatic pulmonary lesions from germ cell testicular cancer may persist after cisplatin-based chemotherapy and may be interpreted as evidence of residual cancer if levels of the tumor markers .alpha.-fetoprotein and human chorionic gonadotropin have normalized during therapy. Mature teratoma will be found in .apprx. 25% of the specimens that are resected. Pathologic documentation of malignancy is recommended.
