A STUDY OF LACTIC DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY OF CEREBROSPINAL FLUID

Abstract
The conditions affecting the measurement of lactic dehydrogenase activity in cerebrospinal fluid were studied. The dependence of the activity on substrate, pH, temperature was characterized. Enzyme activity in cerebrospinal fluid appears to behave similarly to that found in blood. The presence of a blood-brain barrier for lactic dehydrogenase activity was confirmed. A brief review of the literature pertinent to these observations was presented.
