Abstract
Results are given of an investigation of the electric strength of air at pressures up to 21 atmospheres. Sparking voltages are presented for air under pressure as measured with 60-cycle alternating voltage applied to sphere gaps. Deviation from the linear pressure-voltage relation that exists at low pressures is discussed, and certain characteristics of sparking in compressed air are noted. Keywords
