Abstract
The protein structure of fibrin threads and fibrils is described, together with their fibrin bundles or fibers which extensively traverse the amorphous, compact fibrin mass. Retraction with the transverse stripes of the fibrils is described. This process is analogous with that of myofibril contraction, contractile and noncontractile layers being seen here too, with the well-known striated division. The products of fibrin precipitation consist of the amorphous, compact fibrin mass and the fibrils. Retraction takes place in the fibrils, the mass remaining passive. Keywords
