Abstract
The organisms studied were 8 strains of B. bronchiseptica. 6 of B. parapertussis and 15 of B. pertussis. Nicotinic acid is the only essential vit. and is required by all strains. All 3 spp. show similarities in amino acid requirements, and in general form a series of increasing complexity. Colloidal S or CuS, found in some defined media, are inhibitory for B. pertussis. The spp. can be differentiated on the basis of tests for growth inhibition. The nutritional requirements support other evidence that these 3 spp. may be included in a new genus Bordetella. Keywords
