Further investigations on vitamin B6 and related factors of the vitamin B2 complex in rats. Parts I and II

Abstract
Incorporation of dried heated egg white in an exptl. diet used for the pro duction of rat acrodynia hastened and increased the inci dence of the disease. In young rats on a casein diet supple mented with thiamine, riboflavin and vit. B6, necrosis of the kidney cortex occurred as a symptom of choline de ficiency more often than in animals on the same diet not supplemented with vit. B6. Rats with acrodynia respond only transitorily to vit. B6. Cutaneous lesions, which can be classified into 3 different groups, and achromotrichia are regularly seen in rats treated with vit. B6 without the ad dition of other members of the vit. B2 complex, apart from riboflavin and choline. Severe lesions about the eyes (keratitis, panophthalmitis) and pediculosis were observed in 1 group of these rats.
