Mean Lifetime of the 1.61-MeV Level inAr37

The mean lifetime of the 1.61-MeV level of ${}_{}{}^{37}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ar}$ has been measured by applying the recoil-distance method to the ${}_{}{}^{34}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{S}(\alpha ,n){}_{}{}^{37}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ar}$ reaction. The mean lifetime was found to be 6.02 ± 0.29 nsec.
