Abstract
Both the NMR line width of the central line and T1 of the 23Na nucleus are measured as a function of temperature in Na(CN)xCl-1-x crystals at various concentrations x. The behaviour of both quantities shows that for concentrations above about x ∼0. 7 a structural phase transition occurs while below this limit no discontinuities are detected. The results are discussed in relation to the microscopic behaviour of the CN dumbbells. Particularly the experiments performed on systems which do not show a phase transition indicate that the static and dynamic properties continuously change on varying the temperature. Keywords
