Abstract
A tetrapodal calix-4-resorcinarenethiol has been immobilised in a gold–thiol monolayer; the layer shows strong selectivity for some adsorbates from dilute solutions and the non-adsorption from bulk solutions by related calix-4-resorcinarenes may be accounted for on the basis of an X-ray crystal structure. Keywords
