Abstract
In the mid 1960s the completion of the national geodetic adjustment was considered to be an outstanding success, by world standards. Today this single national coordinate set has become fragmented with the pressing priorities of the major agencies and the vastly improved accuracy of the new space techniques. To reverse this trend the concept of fixed fiducial points, accurately determined in a meaningful global reference frame, and then held fixed for internal geodetic purposes is proposedKeywords
