Abstract
Corn silage was significantly superior to RS 303F (sterile) and Axtell sorghum silage for milk production, but the 2 sorghums were of practically the same value. In another trial RS 301F (sterile) silage was more palatable and produced slightly more milk than Tracy sorghum harvested in the early dough stage but was little different from Tracy harvested in mature stage. Since the sterile hybrids had only about 5% of the normal amount of seed set, it appears that the grain content of genetically different sorghums should not be used as a criterion of silage quality. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
