Abstract
The incidence of dysplastic anagen hairs in irradiated mice was significantly reduced by intraperitoneal administration of 1 mgm of cysteamine 10 or 45 minutes before irradiation. The dose reduction factor was 1.5 in a dosage range of 300-900 rads (50 kV, 30 ma, 2 mm Al filtration). No protection was seen in doses of 1200 rads or higher. Given immediately after irradiation cysteamine actually potentiated hair damage in dose ranges up to 600 r.Keywords
