Laser deposited anatase Ti$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$O$_{2-$δ$}$ films: A case of nanocluster ferromagnetism ?
Abstract
Pulsed laser deposited films of Co-doped anatase TiO2 are examined for their structural, transport and magnetic properties. We show, by combining a number of experimental techniques, that the recently reported ferromagnetism in pulsed laser deposited anatase TiO2 system most likely arises from Co nanocluster formation. In particular, our magnetization measurement convincingly demonstrates a Curie temperature (Tc) close to the Tc of bulk Co, which is much larger than any Tc that can be reasonably expected in an intrinsic diluted magnetic semiconductor. Keywords
