Abstract
Tensile strains at failure in pure tension and in bending were measured for several high-modulus fibers, and fiber loop strength was determined at a range of loop curvatures for the same materials. Brittleness in bending is not necessarily associated with high tensile modulus and low breaking strain if the fiber is capable of yielding in compression. Keywords
