Abstract
The calculation of the angular correlation of successive gamma-rays from an atomic nucleus, carried out by Hamilton, has been extended to take into account the effect of the magnetic field at the nucleus because of the extra-nuclear electrons. Results are given in a form valid for all multipole orders. In addition, it is shown that an external magnetic field may be used to reduce the effect of the extra-nuclear electrons on the angular correlation. A method of calculating the effect of an external magnetic field on the angular distribution of the successive gamma-rays is indicated. Keywords
