Is Continuous Haemofiltration Superior to Intermittent Dialysis and Haemofiltration Treatment?

Abstract
An evaluation of mortality from acute renal failure (ARF) over the period from 1951 to 1985 reveals a rise in average mortality from about 30% in 1951 to roughly 70% in 1985 (Fig. 1). These figures are drawn from 212 references in the literature assigned to the date of publication or the date at which the publication was received, even where treatment had taken place earlier. Two causes are generally cited for this rise.
