Abstract
We have studied the ground state of the molecular ion in the presence of a homogeneous magnetic field, basing this study on a linear combination of atomic orbitals obtained from the hydrogen atom in a magnetic field. The calculations have shown that this scheme is adequate to describe the binding energy of the molecule at field strengths up to approximately G.
