Abstract
An expression is derived for the spin wave stiffness constant D in a ferromagnetic alloy using essentially the random phase approximation. On applying the coherent potential approximation a result previously derived by Fukuyama (1973) is obtained. Numerical calculations are made for NiFe and NiCo alloys. Keywords
