Abstract
Hb of A. salina were investigated during development and the results were summarized. A new Hb (Hb N) was induced de novo in the hatching nauplius, but not in the prenauplius nor in the embryo. Hb N seemed not to be synthesized in the adult. The adult contained 3 distinct Hb (Hb I, II and III) in a quantitative ratio of 1:6:3, respectively, and these were not detected in the nauplius. Isoelectric points determined were 5.7, 5.6, 5.7, and 5.9 for Hb N, I, II and III, respectively. All 4 Hb contained 1 large polypeptide (Mr [molecular ratio] = 1.1-1.3 .times. 105) and possibly 2 minor polypeptides (Mr = 8-9.5 .times. 104 and Mr = 5.4 .times. 104, respectively). This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
