Abstract
The use of oral penicillin therapy is important in the management of renal stones secondary to Proteus mirabilis urinary tract infections. In 16 of 20 patients (80%) with struvite renal calculi infected with P. mirabilis a sterile urine was achieved with appropriate penicillin therapy and diminution in stone size occurred in at least 2 cases. The rationale, supporting data and therapeutic uses are discussed. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
