Abstract
Protein synthesis by phagocytized yeast cells of Histoplasma capsulatum was observed in autoradiograms prepared from tissue cultures of mouse histiocytes parasitized with the fungus and pulse labelled with 3H-leucine. Techniques employed to distinguish between host cell synthesizing activity and fungus synthesizing activity are described. The results show that H. capsulatum actively engages in protein synthesis during intracellular residence. Keywords
