Abstract
Bioassay of histamine on the guinea-pig ileum was performed after puri fication of human urine by means of ion exchange columns prepared from either Dowex-50 or Amberlite IRC-50. The Dowex technique yielded an extract better suited for bioassay than the Amberlite technique. The dif ference was probably due to a lower content of interfering substances in the former extract. Values for the urinary excretion of histamine in healthy subjects are presented. Keywords
