Abstract
Chronic painful diabetic neuropathy causes symptoms that can last for many years and severely impair the quality of life of affected patients. This review describes the epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment of chronic neuropathic pain. Particular emphasis is placed on a comprehensive review of the management of painful symptoms through a detailed review of the published literature using a variety of databases particularly Medline and EMBASE.Keywords
