Abstract
Statistical studies in Israel have shown that the European population group has a significantly higher mortality from carcinoma than an Israeli group of oriental origin. The over-all adjusted mortality from malignant neoplasm for the Israeli occidental population was 195.9/per 100,000 as compared with 128.0 for oriental Israelis with a marked disparity especially between males and females. Also in that country, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase varied; 0.2% in the European, 5% in the North African, 5% in the Yemenite, and up to a maximum of 50% in the Kurdish Iranian. A relationship between malignancy and enzyme deficiency was discussed. Keywords
