Abstract
Twelve new complexes of (4-amino-2-methyl-5-pyrimidinyl methyl)thioacetic acid, HAMMPTA, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, melting/decomposition temperatures and i.r. spectra. The complexes, which are formulated as [MX2(HAMMPTA)], M = Zn(II), Cd(II), Pd(II), Pt(II) and Cu(II); X = Cl, Br, I, (except [PdI2(HAMMPTA)2] and [CuCl2(HAMMPTA)2]) are presumably tetrahedral or planar with the metal being bonded to the neutral ligand and two halide ions. The zinc, cadmium and copper complexes are amphoteric whereas the palladium and platinum complexes are acidic. Keywords
