Abstract
Regionalized trauma systems and trauma center designation decrease mortality after severe injury.1,2 Recent studies suggest that the overall risk of death is significantly lower when care is provided at a level I trauma center3 and that a 15% reduction in mortality could be attributed to the implementation of trauma systems.4 A key factor contributing to these improved outcomes is implementation of a system for continuous quality assessment. Keywords
