Bimetallic Alkoxides of Zinc and Aluminium

Abstract
Some new bimetallic alkoxides of zinc and aluminium have been synthesised by alcoholysis reactions of [Zn{Al (OPri)4}2; these may be represented by the formulae [Zn{Al (OR4}2] (where R = Me, Et, Prn, Bun, Bui, Bus and Ami) or [Zn{Al (OPri) (OR')3}2] (where R' = But or Amt). With the exception of [Zn{Al (OMe)4}2] and [Zn{Al (OEt)4}2], all the other derivatives are volatile under reduced pressure, soluble in common organic solvents and depict monomeric behaviour in refluxing benzene. Efforts have been made to characterise these new derivatives by a study of their elemental analyses and ir as well as pmr spectra.
