Low output voltage DC/DC conversion

Abstract
The high power densities required by small DC/DC On Board Converters (OBC) in Distributed Power Systems (DPS) combined with the low output voltage (3.3 V) required by the load, complicates the design of these kind of converters. In this paper, a survey of the main solutions to reduce losses and size of low output voltage OBCs is carried out. The survey is focused on the optimization of the power topologies to take the maximum benefit from the rectification devices, including low voltage drop diodes, external driven and self-driven synchronous rectifiers.
