Charge transfer of ground-state C+, N+, and O+ in N2 and H2

Abstract
The single-electron charge-transfer cross sections for ground-state C+, N+, and O+ ions colliding with N2 and H2 are reported. Comparison with results from a mixed-state beam (i.e., an ion beam containing both ground-state and metastable-state ions) of C+ and O+ ions indicate that single-electron charge-transfer cross sections are equal for ground-state and metastable-state C+ and O+ ions for velocities greater than ∼5×107 cm sec1.
