Abstract
A distributed-feedback structure having a predominant gain at an edge wavelength of the Bragg reflection band is proposed and analytical results are presented. The structure has both refractive-index and gain-loss profiles with the same period. Since the gains per period at two edge wavelengths of this structure is substantially different, the selective amplification at the single wavelength is less sensitive to both fabrication accuracy and matching conditions than other single-wavelength schemes which utilize refractive-index profile alone. Keywords
