Abstract
The effect of a new thiazide on signs of congestive failure was studied in one group of patients and on hypertension in another group. Of 17 patients with congestive failure, 16 showed good or fair results. Eight of 10 patients with hypertension showed a definite lowering of their pressure. Four others who also had congestive failure did well. It is concluded that polythiazide is a potent diuretic and hypotensive agent in doses of 2 to 4 mg a day, with no distressing side-effects.Keywords
