Abstract
Various types of velocity distribution functions occurring in steady-state ion swarm experiments with absorbing boundaries have been identified, and their behavior investigated by computer simulation, in a Li+-He case study. From this study, it is apparent that distribution functions and velocity moments obtained from RPD measurements have very little connection with the corresponding quantities occurring in boundary-free transport. Keywords
