Abstract
The polarization of the electrons emitted by a KrF excimer laser (pulse duration 16 ns) from polycrystalline iron has been measured as a function of pulse energy. The results are well accounted for by an optical-heating model where the spin and lattice systems have identical temperatures. Keywords
