Abstract
The absorption of amino-acids in vitro by fragments of rat intestine has been investigated, the method being adapted for studies on biopsy samples. Certain characteristics of intestinal physiology have devolved from these studies: Pure mucosal tissue is more suitable for such measurements, since intestinal muscle does not absorb amino-acids activity. The functional life of intestinal mucosa is very short after the death of the host, autolysis of the mucosal cells setting in under conditions of anoxia. Keywords
