THE EFFECTS OF VITAMIN D AND OTHER STEROLS ON BLOOD PRESSURE IN THE RAT

Abstract
Blood pressure measured in the tail of the albino rat was not increased, either acutely or chronically, by the oral adm. of vit. D2 in doses sufficiently large to induce severe toxication as manifested by marked loss in wt. In growing, untreated, control animals, a small increase in blood pressure approx. parallels the wt. gain. With loss of wt. from toxication the blood pressure tends to be decreased concomitantly with the wt. Desoxy-corticosterone produced marked hypertension.
