Abstract
Using a double-Regge-pole-exchange model, we study the low --mass enhancement in the reaction at 9 . We find that and double exchange dominate the process. In general the model agrees with the data in the region where GeV, - , and - . The possibility of extending the model into the large- region and problems involved in the extrapolation of the model to the threshold are investigated. The importance of the contribution from the double-peripheral process in the low- region and its implications for the analysis of the system are discussed.
