Abstract
Using a double-Regge-pole-exchange model, we study the low -Δ++π-mass enhancement in the reaction K+pK+πΔ++1236 at 9 GeVc. We find that P and π double exchange dominate the process. In general the model agrees with the data in the region where M(K+π)>~1.54 GeV, -tKK (GeVc)2, and -tpΔ (GeVc)2. The possibility of extending the model into the large-t region and problems involved in the extrapolation of the model to the Kπ threshold are investigated. The importance of the contribution from the double-peripheral process in the low-M(K+π) region and its implications for the analysis of the Kπ system are discussed.
