Abstract
Streptomycin inhibits the binding of free phenylalanie sRNA as well as charged phenylalanyl sRNA to the ribosome-poly uracil complex. In contrast, it stimulates the binding of free isoleucine sRNA to poly uracil-guanidine-ribosome complex whle it stimulates the binding of leucyl sRNA to the complex of ribosomes and poly Uracil or poly uracil-cytosine. It also stimulated the binding of seryl sRNA to poly uracil- ribosome complex. The effect of streptomycin was strongly dependent on magnesium concentration. The attachment of C14- poly uracil to ribosomes was not inhibited by streptomycin. Keywords
