Abstract
The diet of Lutra (Hydrictis) maculicollis has been studied by analyzing their spraints collected during 12 months at Lake Muhazi (Rwanda). The different bones found in 154 spraints allowed us to find out the different preys and their relative proportions in the diet of the otter. The validity of the method is discussed and put in doubt by the direct observation of the alimentary behaviour of the spotted necked otter.
