Abstract
Contemporary (analytical, clinical) developments require air samples containing accurately known concentrations of formaldehyde. A novel method and apparatus are described for the generation of “controlled formaldehyde atmospheres”. Monomeric formaldehyde was generated by thermal decomposition of polyoxy methylene and allowed to permeate across a silicone membrane into a predried air carrier stream, yielding desired concentration levels of HCHO. Contamination by water and methanol were entirely obviated. Keywords
