Investigation of the (d,p) and (d,α) Reactions of the Silicon Isotopes

Abstract
An investigation of the Si29(d,α)Al27, Si29(d,p)Si30, and Si30(d,p)Si31 reactions has been made using a high resolution magnetic spectrograph. The spectra of particle groups observed at 90 degrees to the incident deuteron beam from silicon-dioxide targets enriched in Si29 and Si30 were compared to the spectra obtained from targets of natural SiO2. The Q-values for the ground-state transitions are 5.994±0.011, 8.388±0.013, and 4.364±0.007 Mev. The following level positions have been determined: {Al27,:0.84and1.01Mev.}{Si30,:2.24,3.51,and3.79Mev.}{Si31,:0.757,1.699,2.319,2.751,3.140,3.539,and4.384Mev.}
