Abstract
Optical emission around an evaporation source of carbon (and metal/carbon composite) has been studied. For the evaporation of pure graphite, C2 bands and C and C+ lines were observed. When metal (La or Sc)/carbon composite was evaporated, many emission lines due to neutral and ionized metal atoms were observed in addition to the C2 bands and C and C+ lines. An effect of polarization force induced by metal ions on the nucleation of metallo-fullerenes is noted. Keywords
