Abstract
Chromosome numbers of 15 spp. of Sagittaria and 2 spp. of Alisma were detd. from aceto-carmine smears of root tips. All spp. of Sagittaria have 2n = 22 and the idiograms of all spp. are the same except for possible variations in the lengths of particular chromosomes. The longest pair and the shortest pair of chromosomes have median constrictions. The remaining 9 pairs have sub-terminal constrictions. A. triviale is diploid with 2n = 14, A. subcordatum is tetraploid. The idiogram for A. triviale consists of 5 pairs of chromosomes with median constrictions and 2 pairs with subterminal constrictions. A. subcordatum has an idiogram exactly double that of A. triviale. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
