Abstract
A liquid medium for the cultivation of blood flagellates was previously described in which a mixture of tomato juice, bovine albumin and haematin was used instead of blood. The tomato juice has now been replaced by 16 known growth factors. Growth of T. cruzi on this partially defined medium is equal to that on media containing tomato juice or on older empirical media. There is no dimunition of growth after prolonged serial subculture. The medium also supports the growth of a few other strains of Trypanosomidae.
