Abstract
A case of recurrent hepatitis associated with hypergammaglobulinemia and positive L.E. cell reactions is presented. The disease was followed by needle biopsies during two episodes of relapse and subsequent remissions over nearly a four year period. The biopsies during the remissions indicate absence of features of hepatitis with slight alterations of liver architecture. Adrenal steroid therapy appeared to be responsible for the last remission. The illness preceding this last remission was associated with hypergammaglobulinemia and positive L.E. cell reactions. The patient has continued on small dosage of adrenal steroid and has remained well for over 18 months following the last episode of severe recurrent hepatitis. The possible relationship of this syndrome to immunologic disease is discussed. Keywords
