Abstract
Data in 22 recently diagnosed diabetics were compared with those in 48 diabetics under treatment for more than 5 years. A positive correlation was found in both groups between intraarteriolar red cell aggregation(RCA) and the chylomicron count. RCA was slightly commoner in long established diabetics than in early diabetics. Hyperchylomicronemia was much commoner in the early diabetics than in the older group (81.8%) as against 60.5%). The chylomicron count and RCA were found to be much more sensitive indices than the blood cholesterol level and ESR respectively.
