Abstract
The uptake of 12-O-tetradecanoyl-phorbal-13-acetate (TPA) by HeLa [human cerival carcinoma] cells, a line responsive to the action of this tumor promoting agent, was studied. Most of the uptake apparently is due to a physical nonsaturable process which is not grossly affected by inhibitors of energy metabolism or macromolecular synthesis. Uptake occurs mainly in membranous fractions of the cell, is largely reversible and is temperature dependent. 3H-TPA uptake may be largely due to partitioning of this lipophilic substance into the lipid phase of the cell membranes. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
