Abstract
The aldosterone antagonist, SC-8109, was administered to a patient with clinical and biochemical evidence suggesting mineralocorticoid excess. There was an increase in the urinary Na/K ratio in association with a complete reversal of serum electrolyte levels to normal. At operation, the adrenal glands showed nodular hyperplasia. The response to a spirolactone such as SC-8109 may prove useful in the diagnosis of primary mineralocorticoid excess. Keywords
